Long Island SEO Do's And Don'ts For Constructing Resumes

By Rob Sutter

For anyone that's looking to make an impact in the working world, it makes sense to learn how to construct a resume. You may know to include the essentials - education, job history, relevant skills, and so forth - but did you know that all of these details can be tailored for Long Island SEO purposes? Yes, it's entirely possible to write a digital resume so that it ranks. For those that are interested in doing so, follow these do's and don'ts.

DO choose the right keywords. These will vary depending on what your specialties are, not to mention what employers are looking for. First and foremost, it's important to be accurate on your resume, since no employer will want to consider a dishonest person for a position. However, you can still be honest while including the terms that they're most likely to search for. This will take time, but eventually you'll get the gist of it.

DON'T downplay the headline. The headline of your resume goes a long way, not only in terms of drawing in potential employers but ranking as well. To write the perfect headline, include keywords that are relevant to your skills and industry of choice. In addition, keep it at a reasonable length. According to companies such as fishbat, the snappier your headline is, the more likely it is that it will help you in the business world.

DO clearly list where you are. Another SEO element, as it relates to resume construction, is where you live. Not only will employers want to know where prospects are located, but you'll want to make sure that potential job opportunities are relatively close. You should make it clear where you are, abbreviated forms included. By using different variations of your location, you stand to gain more SEO juice.

DON'T let your resume go without updates. If you're truly looking to get the most out of your resume, from a digital standpoint, it would be unwise to leave it by the wayside. As a matter of fact, it's recommended that you continue to update it. This is especially true as progress is made in the workplace. Much like a website, when a resume is updated, its chances of ranking will only increase.
