To work in Hollywood is often a dream of every child who has ever seen a movie. Becoming a voice over talent has often been the dream of many an adult. While a number of male voice over talents often apply for jobs, only about one in a thousand make the cut. The limited availability of jobs, and those whom just do not have the voice for this kind of work can speak to the pros and cons of the business.

There are websites which offer exchange services for jobs and for those looking for talent. Individuals can take individualized training, live in remote areas and still make big bucks. Although, creating a professional demo can often costs upwards of a few thousand dollars, at least in the United States. Two of these websites are Voices.com, and Voice123.com. Both offer the opportunity to create a profile, a demo and to search and apply for a number of jobs in the industry.

Becoming involved in the business can often take time. When an interest exist, it is often best to research the industry and attend a few classes and workshops before applying for jobs. Not only does one then have related educational experience, it is also shows that the individual has initiative to learn and study on an independent basis. Something that is often necessary for each and every voice over opportunity.

Having a clear, concise voice and wide vocal range are also key elements to success. Individuals who have these qualities often make it big in the business. Whereas, those whom can only speak in a monotone voice without any range whatsoever, often do not fair as well. For these individuals, it is important when looking for work in the industry to look for jobs which require this type of voice.

There are some things which every individual looking to work in the business needs to know. One of which is that the best, and most desired talents often have a wide vocal range. For example, females can often be asked to talk like an angel, or a sexy sultry vixen. Whereas, males need to have the ability to speak in deep and soft tones. Males and females alike can often be required not only to speak in various vocal tones but also to create sounds of different animals and other beings.

When people can meet these qualifications, it provides an even better chance for opportunity. Although, there are some instances in which directors, or others may have requirements for monotone speakers as well as those with a wide range. Still, when applying for a job in the industry, it is often best to provide a recording which shows a wide range in vocal ability.

Also, while some work can be done from a home studio, there are some studios which require individuals work on site. Most often those required to work on site are generally working as part of a film, or television crew. Whereas, those creating voice tracts for commercials and websites are often allowed more opportunities to work from home.

Professional actors have an edge, so all application tapes and recordings need to be as professional as possible. Otherwise, individuals are most likely only wasting time. Whereas, those submitting professional recordings, along with well thought out and accurate applications often have at least some chance of finding work in the industry.
