Why Read Young Adult Book Reviews

By Annabelle Holman

Young adults often find they cannot relate to books written for adults. They want to read stories with gripping plots, extraordinary events and characters with whom they can identify. They want to read about challenges they are facing, written honestly and tackling issues head on. Authors have responded to this need and many such books are now available. There are literally thousands of young adult book reviews online.

These reviews are written by people from all types of different backgrounds, ages and with different levels of skill. Some even make money from those they write and may not be altogether honest. In such a situation there may be some confusion about which reviews to rely on.

One of the ways to find suitable books is to go through social networking sites. This is a way to keep up with what friends are reading and recommending. It helps to know reviewers personally, particularly if they have the same reading tastes.

There are a vast number of review sites available and some are better than others. To find the best ones, it may be useful to find lists listing the top ones and to find out what sites friends are using. These sites are not specifically devoted to a certain age group and one has to select a particular genre and go to recommendations for books suited to young adults. Once certain books have been purchased, recommendations for others like it may be given.

Some review sites are run by young people. Everything on the site is related to them and all reviews are written by them. This means that sometimes they are not written with the best grammar but the passion about the story still comes through.

It is also possible to follow a favorite author on Twitter and this may be another way to find the most suitable books. One may even find out more about a new book being written in a popular series in this way. Authors may also tweet recommending other authors or novels in a similar style.

One often finds that adolescents do not know what to read once they have grown out of childhood stories. Encouraging them to use online platforms may just result in them finding books they love and establishing a new love of reading. They may find out what fun it is to participate in discussions about books with others who have enjoyed them.

If they think that adult books are irrelevant to them, they will be astounded at the huge variety of fiction addressed specifically to them. Many adults even secretly find these books highly entertaining. All kinds of genres are covered and all sorts of relevant issues dealt with in a way that is honest and easily understood.

The websites specifically designed to attract people of this age have many enticing opportunities. They can do far more than just find suitable books. They interact with other readers, learn more about favorite authors, enter contests, build a virtual bookshelf and join fan clubs. This age group are so involved with social media and utilizing this involvement makes sense in encouraging a love of reading.
