Getting To Grips With Back To Basics Parenting

By Barbara Rogers

Parenting can be a tough job. It is not something that you can read about out of a text book. You don't go to university for something like this, and it is often daunting. It has especially become even tougher because there are so many different theories out there, which is why back to basics parenting is often something that people are looking for these days.

In the past families would sit around the dinner table, and they would have time for one another. They would do something together on the weekends and they would enjoy more quality time together. However, one has a lot of challenges to face, with the likes of technology and the media. Kids are exposed to computers, tablets and cell phones from an early age.

It is important for parents to maintain their sense of discipline which can become more exhausting these days. They may need to certain rules where children are only allowed so much time spent at the computer. They will only be able to sit in front of the television at night after they have finished their homework. It is important that they are still able to bond with their kids.

Often, children are just looking for something from their parents as these are the people that they look up to. They need to be positive in how they raise certain issues and in how they approach certain topics. An adult will look back at these days which they spent with their mom and dad and smile, or they will have nightmares.

If parents don't give them this basic grounding early on in life, they may suffer in their adult lives. They need to feel as if they are loved by their parent. The also need to respect them. Sometimes, a parent will be too soft and see their child as their friend. They do this with all of the best intentions. However, it is not helping the child grow, and this is something to keep in mind.

In a case like this, the child may become angry or withdrawn. They may start to rebel because of the fact that they have been neglected and that they are angry inside. To avoid this, one must bond from with the baby from day one. It is important to set some time aside to be able to include the child into your day. This is even possible if you are a working mom.

It only takes a few minutes to read a story to your toddler, but this can increase their development, and at the same time your bond will also grow, and this is obviously important. When you fetch them from school, it is important to talk to them, even if you have had a frustrating day. From time to time, it can be draining, but it will pay off in the long run.

Having a home that is free from stress, will help a child grow into a healthy adult. Someone who is brought up in a stressful environment will have to deal with a lot of excess emotional baggage later on in life. One will be surprised what simple arguments between parents can do to a child who is trying to develop. It can be hugely traumatic for a child
